"My old Fleet Admiral? Of course I remember her. Very... talented, as a naval commander, though often in unorthodox ways. She had a way with people, making them do what she wanted, making it seem like your idea. Making it seem as if it were in your best interest, no matter what it was she asked of you. It usually was, considering the alternative. She had these eyes, everyone who worked under her saw 'em, but only the trolls on the vessels opposing her got the best look into those windows, and what they saw made them never wanna look again. She could do anything with this... this knowing smile, like she KNEW that you were gonna back down, swear fealty, whatever it took. She didn't need to threaten you. She just acted like it was a foregone conclusion. She was right. If it wasn't the eyes, it was the rumors about ships having gaping breakages in their hulls without her ever firing a shot, below the waterline. You'd kneel, one way or the other, with a sword either on your shoulder, or at your neck at the block. That was all so long ago now. No one could believe it when she died. Who would have the guts? The skill? The answer became well known before long, of course, and those who swore on vengeance got what they wanted, even if not personally. Can't help but wonder though, how Alternia might've been shaped if a willful woman like her had stuck around after the Empire had stabilized. I'd have given just about anything to see it. Damn those Rebels." ~Excerpt from an interview with a Veteran in her Service, date Unknown
