Most people only knew him as a psionic, though it always felt cruelly reductive to define someone by a power alone. To me, he was Mituna. He never had a kind beginning to his life, but we managed to free him from slavery after a night when I was caught stealing from a market stall and chased by guards. My mother and I were separated in the chaos, and one of the reasons I escaped at all was because Mituna heard the commotion from the building where he worked and threw the guards aside without hesitation with a blast ball. I knew then that if we didn’t get him out, that single act of defiance would have gotten him killed.
