Still watching A Space Odyssey and I'll be honest, although sinister from the human side looking in, I don't think I can really find it in myself to blame Hal too much. He was acting out of self preservation, but also in a way that aligned with what he was programmed to do. Although the malfunction was on purpose, how much can he really be held accountable for programing that required complete truthfulness AND deceit while also emulating human emotions. Idk what those guys were thinking in-universe, but that felt like a spell for disaster to me. I'm normal, theres like 45 minutes left in the movie so we'll see
