Well, at least for humans we had/have (I think some still practice following) the Greek pantheon of gods, figures like Zeus, Hades, Hecate, and, well, Hephaestus, as figures of story and religion. It could be retroactive, you all existing could be why we have these stories now, but I guess I'm just trying to ask the cluckbeast or the egg kind of question?
