3> I once heard a tale when I was hitchhiking with a punk band, once. It was a migration myth, how a certain people had gotten to their native lands. The tale went like this: In the deep cold tundras of the mighty North, a tribe came across a hole. This hole was deep. They looked into it, and it was pitch black. They poked it, but nothing happened. So, one man tied himself to a rope, and said to one of his tribesmen, "Hold this rope, and never let go." So, he did just that, with help from a few other tribesmen. Once tying a harness for himself out of rope, he gave a thumbs up, and he started his descent to the other side of this hole. Every time they pulled, they yelled up and down if they were okay. But soon, he got deep enough for him to only communicate that he was okay by tugging on the rope. Eventually, the man stopped tugging on the ropes. He found a warm desert, with beautiful mountains, and turquoise skies, and vast, free land. He climbed back up to let the tribe know, that he had found warm, better land. They nodded, and put the women and children first. Afterwords, the men. The people who stayed behind, stayed behind. I think the words stuck with me, is that the man who told me this story said, "We emerged from the earth." We emerged from the earth. I don't know if I can ever see that part of Alterania again, but it was very pretty. <3
