From their eyes and mouth, the sheer exertion of what they were doing was pushing their power to the absolute limit. Dry coughing grew more wet as their knees and legs wobbled, while the core of Skaia loomed overhead. From their nostrils trails of red lined their lips and chin, and their body shone and burned a jubilant shade of red. Timi was reaching their limit. It was like being ground against two rocks until being reduced to raw flesh. It was like feeling their very soul getting mangled. Still, Timi persisted. They could not weep anymore; the required energy to work those muscles would divert away from their core task. And then, as luck would have it, a Perfectly Generic Object struck Timi across the face. Timi sucked the air in between their teeth as the object slowly stopped spinning and floated there. Timi opened their eyes as they looked at the cube, and the message therein. "WE MADE IT THROUGH GET OVER HERE ALREADY IT WOULD BE EMPTY WITHOUT YOU - LOVE, PERU" Timi spit out more blood, and smiled. This was going to be difficult. It would be like a professional weightlifter putting down record-sized irons. A few deep breaths. The trail was obvious. The direction was true. Several more deep breaths. Then... Timi would let go. In the instant that Timi stopped manipulating time, a crescendo of energy from Skaia processed in mere fractions of a second. Timi, on the verge of total exhaustion, slowed time enough to operate in frame-perfect movement away from what could only be adequately described as an explosion of vaporizing light. In slow motion, Timi left the entirety of the Planetoid and gritted their hands and teeth to fly straight to the portal. Timi could feel the gears of Time itself move so wrong, in such a violated procession, trying to rectify itself on the spot despite moving so slowly. It felt like nails being hammered into the same spot; that same rippling disgusting when the belt of an engine misaligned horribly yet still tries to move, the heaving of badly aligned pistons still yet animated by forward motion alone. Timi was outrunning the train headed due course for a train wreck while trapped on the very tracks fundamental to stopping it. Timi screamed in raw, pained emotion as the exit appeared in sight. The stars twinkled beautifully, and yet, Timi realized something in total horror. The lights were all winking out slowly... It was not that the universe was dying. Timi's theory held true; letting go meant the corruption returned, and the exit was slowly being blocked off again, inch by inch. The corruption was seeping from top to bottom. Timi took one last deep breath and localized the speed of time to slow to as much as humanly possible, as blood once more was spat out. They could feel the valves in their heart mispump as Timi and the door were only mere yards away. To a normal observer, Timi only moves millimeters every few minutes. Buying every single frame of a frame of a second to that door. They could feel time melt into yawning stretches they could yet comprehend. It felt like actual years. And to the localized space, yet unaging, it was. Timi's body, now unconscious, slowly kept sliding towards the door. The corruption by this point, had covered 2/3rds of it. It was neck and neck. It was only forward momentum that kept Timi going at this point. It crept further and further as Timi slowly inched into the door. The corruption reached closer like a guillotine over Timi's body. Timi gave everything and anything they could to make this happen. Every single thing imaginable. But now... only luck could make that call.
