You’re listening to… Good Morning and Good Evening, my lovely listeners! Wanted to share another great legend of Jazz that's also a gay icon for this third day of Pride. Pianist and composer Billy Strayhorn who played with Duke Ellington his whole career was a wonderfully talented singer and jazz musician as well as a gay man, who had to hide his sexuality for a good portion of his life. Ellington protected Strayhorn from those who suspected and wanted to exclude or even persecute him by refusing to play without Strayhorn. A friendship to admire!
