Originally we assumed it was maybe to stop all the trees from dying completely or something so the consorts wouldn't run out of food, but... They're all dead and the consorts are genuinely fine. And while that does seem like a "Hope Player" type quest, it doesn't seem like a "Bard" type quest... Not sure. Maybe the quest was more about himself than... Ah, whatever. No use thinking about it. Permanently dead men can't solve quests. ⦔
