// ooc post: im talking about racism in fiction to unload my thoughts, just scroll if you don't care lol. I'm yapping, and I will return to regularly scheduled Trizza posting. I'm just posting this because I talked OOC with someone and wanted to expand on my reasons for not participating in the "ranking bloodcolors." I am not sure how many people on this website or in the HSRPC are black or POC, but I've talked a lot in the past about the stereotypes that are harmful when talking about Purplebloods and Fuchsia (typically the commonly used black stereotypes and AAVE used as a trendy language when there's a long history behind it) There's this specific weird thing when people talk about purplebloods, they do this thing that I see happen to black people in the porn industry, and that has leaked into beliefs of black people outside of it. "Well, they're black, so they obviously have BIG dicks, manly, aggressive." And that often is the stereotype purple falls under. With Fuchsia, it always is "Independent woman who needs no man!" Which is racist. Those are harmful racial stereotypes. It's like when people kept using the c-slur, the end of recuperecoon for the shortening of that word instead of just cupe. The amount of casual racism people don't notice when interacting with this fandom is kinda astonishing. I mean, these are general problems with any fandom, but sometimes it's just blatant racism repackaged into this. It's incredibly stressful to see people write what they think oppression is and what racism is. Like, I'm sorry, but it's not a one-way street; intersectionality is a very real thing that you need to consider. It's not black and white. Alternia's caste system was built on everything below violet not benefiting. Then everything below purple is getting hit with the worst of it. Also, there's this weird belief that if you make a character black, you can't make them evil; no, that's just playing into harmful stereotypes still. You can't hail an entire group of people free of guilt or bad behavior because that lets people get away with things that they shouldn't have. Trizza at the end of the day benefits the best from the system she was born into, BUT she still faces backlash from the system built for her, it being caste discrimination to a very small degree OR sexism because, Alternia was never a matriarchy and there is enough canon evidence of actual sexism to prove otherwise and Condy is actively being manipulated and hurt by a man. AT THE END OF THE DAY, the tierlist overall really proved a point that no form of actual prejudice is good and will forever and always be harmful because you can't fix anything if you are actively trying to perpetuate harmful stereotypes. Thank you for reading. If you made it this far, it's all over the place. I have a lot of thoughts and opinions on this as a black AFAB person.
