Mr. Morgan. You’ve seen him. Well-dressed. Clean. Shows up where he shouldn’t, leaves before you get the chance to ask the right question. Doesn’t give orders. Doesn’t need to. You figured maybe he was tailing you. He isn’t. He just knows where you’re going to be. That’s the difference. He doesn’t steer you. He doesn’t push. He stands where the road narrows and waits for you to notice it does. You’ve had those moments. Where something feels heavier than it ought to. Where a choice sits in front of you longer than the others. Not louder. Not clearer. Just… harder to ignore. You call that your better nature, maybe. Or your conscience. He doesn’t bother naming it. Neither do I. Nothing’s gone wrong for you, Arthur. Not once. Every turn you took, every time you doubled back, every time you told yourself you’d do better next time. All of it adds up the same way. You don’t need someone to tell you what kind of man you are. You’re already walking it out. Men like him… we just make sure you get a good look at it when it matters. So when you see him again—and you will— Don’t ask what he wants. Ask yourself why he showed up *then*. You’ll have your answer.
