I feel as though in my youth I was a bit of a poser when it came to being a Greek Mythology fan. It was never the type of literature that appealed to me, drawn more towards both fantasy and general eldritch horror. But when you claim to be into writing I feel it is expected. So I end up having a vague collection of specific myths I felt I had to know, and not a grander understanding of the mythos as a whole. I am curious now of looking into it, but both learning where to start is difficult and part of me wants to focus on different mythologies. The part of me that is elitist in my interests rather than curious. Hm.
