Now that's likely not the case, as the legend, and then the song that was written about it, was supposed to show that the Mexican efforts to subdue the rebellion were shattered because of race mixing, which as any sane person knows, is fucking stupid. But there's a lot stupid shit back in my home state. In any case, the flower's got a sort of secret third region specific meaning. Hopefully all of that wasn't too unpleasant to read. West, btw, did manage to leave the state again after the revolution was over, which is good. Due to her kidnapping, she'd lost the passport that declared her a free woman, but she was vouched for by some prominent figures in the burgeoning new government there, and either returned to her home state of Connecticut or to New York after her ordeal.
