Absolutely nobody asked for this but I wanted to say it. Hemoanonymity does not equal hemorebellion. Hemoanonymity does not mean that someone is safe for vulnerable people to be open with. Hemoanonymity does not mean that someone will not report you for being something the empire doesn't like. There is a reason that hemoanonymity is legal in the first place. It is beneficial for the empire to give people a way to "hide", because it means that it is easier for government agents to do the same, to infiltrate groups, to rat people out, to hurt others. There are also several more mundane reasons to don all-grey which have nothing to do with the empire. A popstar avoiding paparazzi might wear all-grey. Someone living in a rough area whose caste is perhaps slightly "higher" or "lower" than the general populous of the territory may wear all-grey. Businesses may encourage all-grey employees, either for mistaken shows of "comradery", or to make it harder for people to find their secrets by making it harder for people to figure out who their workers are. Some uniforms are all-grey to cut down on costs. There are plenty of mundane reasons. There are also the obvious ones. The only thing that hemoanomyity tells you is "This person is hiding their blood colour". It tells you absolutely nothing else. It doesn't tell you who they're aligned with. It doesn't tell you if they're a troll or not. it doesn't tell you if they're on "your side" or not. It only tells you the purposeful lack of colouring. That's it. The trick is to never make assumptions. Anyone of any colour is just as likely to hurt you or be an ally, and someone hiding their colour is exactly the same. Take stock of their personality above all else. The colour or lack thereof that a person wears does not at all dictate their response to you, their trustworthiness, or their abilities. I have been stung by scorpions in grey as often as spiders in cerulean, hornets in gold and leeches in violet. Do you understand?
