a king is having a party with 1000 8ottles of wine. 1 perigee 8efore the party, somepuppy sneaks into the winery and poisons one (1) 8ottle of wine with poison that will show no signs that the person is poisoned, 8ut 3 weeks later they will drop dead instantly. The king has 10 servants that he doesn't care if they die or live. Using these 10, how does the king find the poisoned 8ottle of wine 8efore the party ??
First you gotta number the bottles 1 to 100 and assign each servant a unique power of two from 2⁰ to 2⁹ Since every whole number up to 1000 can be written as a unique sum of the exponents, the servants should be instructed to drink from a bottle only if their specific exponential value is needed to add up to that bottle's number. For example for bottle 6, only servant 2 and 3 will drink from this bottle, but for bottle 100, servants 3, 6, and 7 will drink. In the event that only servants 2 and 3 die, then it was bottle 6, but in the event 3, 6, and 7 die, it was bottle 100. And if it was say bottle 55 then servants 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6 will die. If only servant one dies, then it was bottle one. Because anything to the 0th power is 1. And so the king would do that all the way to 1000 and figure out the maths once the servants drop.
