Fun Zelda fact: Link's outfit redesign in Breath of the Wild and the related games was a gameplay decision. With so much green grass, he needed to stand out against the environments he was in. Befitting of a vengeful spirit. Ultimately I am.. Indifferent. BOTW is not my favorite. But it has convinced people who once showcased no interest in the franchise to pick up the classics. That alone is reason enough for its existence. I will not be so kind to Tears of the Kingdom. I feel nothing toward TotK. There is not a greater insult.
Surprisingly, I do not have a strong opinion on Tears of the Kingdom. Perhaps because I enjoyed the return and reinterpretation of enemies from previous titles. However, it fails to hold my interest. ▼
They're novel. But ultimately it is all set-dressing for a subpar world that is trying to tell an even more subpar story. Have you heard the modern-day phrase "Hype Moment and Aura".? That is TotK to me. Beautiful plating and garnish and decoration.. All for. Like. The exact same meal as last time. Except the seasoning has an off taste.
There was so much anticipation built for its release. So many people comparing it to Majora's Mask. Nothing can compare to Majora's Mask. Nothing. Ever again. ▼
Unfortunately this is true. I have yet to find a game that truly captures what Majora's Mask had. It was lightning in a bottle. Something that could only be created in its extreme circumstances. Although. On reflection. I have heard many good things about the game Outer Wilds.. Perhaps I could add that to my "to-play" list..?
As much as I enjoyed it. I do not want another game to measure up to Majora's Mask. I've had enough. ▼
