A terrible pity, seeing the treatment these helms go through. I was under the impression pilotbatteries had been largely phased out of the fleet, given how costly it is to force one into submission. Nevermind the fact that compliance is hardly guaranteed ~~ Much simpler to use a helm solely as a power source and hire a pilot who wants to be there. Though still a ghastly business, of course. I do very much approve of the newer ships that run on actual engines instead of psionic power ~~ Of course, we'll never be rid of the practice entirely. It's a vital threat in the Empire's arsenal. I can scarcely imagine the types of rebellion we would witness without it ~~
