I saw a lone yellowjacket today along a creek I frequent. I suspect it was a queen in search of a foraging spot for a new colony. The beauty was very cooperative but clearly not a fan of my presence. Understandably so. It's always been a desire of mine to be able to free-handle one. Let it roam across my hand. But the stigma surrounding Yellowjackets has unfortunately made me a little jumpy around them.
