expanding on this, my overall biggest pointer is just that most people tend to react in kind. especially in places like this! aggression as a default is a very guarded position to work from, and it makes it feel a lot easier to avoid being embarrassed, kindness opens you up a little more, but also means that other people feel safer being nice, because they know that it's not as much of a gamble!!!
