(( making this solely to pin it but: Semfor Ensign originally found herself working for a local yet mediocre press company that was relatively close to her hive, tackling riveting topics like economics and more mundane things occurring in the area. And whenever time came to tackling something interesting, it would always be given or shuffled off to the more talented writers and editors in the workplace. Having “suffered” under boring workloads for a whole sweep, she made a stand to her purpleblooded superior (which is uncharacteristic for her as any kind of pushback from highbloods usually shatters that self confidence pretty quickly), whereas this was the first example of that. They flatly refusing to cull her for her outburst after labeling her writing sub-par, and told her to get the fuck out of there. And so she did, rather expeditiously. Having been working within the freelancing model for the last few sweeps as a result of this, it comes with its own highs and lows. Even when she is contacted for something important, she usually isn’t mentioned anywhere (for say a book of some variety) unless the author also happens to be a midblood like herself. The work definitely pays well, when she gets it. And more recently she’s had issues coming up with money on account of a… you guessed it, lack of work! So she’s had to turn to more… out of the way and sleazy methods to continue getting a consistent revenue stream. She’d never admit it though… ))
