To speak without naming names a little, the psychological field remains near and dear to my heart and to see it reduced to the theoretical work of a single man who, if you have only ever looked at him through the lens of your own kinks and thus were not aware is somewhat of an enemy of the entire psychological field, hurts. My main gripe with Alien 3 was that it absolutely shoved its themes in your face, and that is saying a lot considering Ridley Scott was a pervert and the first Alien movie is already shoving its themes in your face. It felt like they decided to convert the series into less of a cosmic horror that happened to have a theme to dissect with the alien species, and more David Fincher reading a Microsoft CoPilot summary of Alien and thinking "Oh, the little alien thing is shaped like a vagina? That's awesome. I have some ideas."
