It's a particular word used as synecdoche to refer to an individual. For example, I am Jasprose! If you say "hello, Jasprose," I will understand that you are talking to me. Or, if you tell someone, "Jasprose told me what a fruit is," that someone will understand which individual told you this. Sometimes people have the same name, but it's still better than just describing the entirety of the individual each tome you want to refer to them specifically, wouldn't you agree?
