Back to the regularly scheduled horror postings. Tonight, I am watching 'The Laplace's Demon'. What are you watching?

Re-watching Sinister because I brought it up to someone last night.
Exciting. I too have watched this movie. Though I find Sinister to not be as apt of a title for it. Perhaps merely for marketing.

I'm going to be completely frank with you. I enjoyed it thoroughly. It may have had me clutching at the legholes of my shorts on my first watch because I was so invested in the concept, and the jumpscares were very effective.
Yes, it is quite terrifying for a modern movie. The cinematography was quite 'peak' at times, though I enjoy the epistemology of the tapes. Contagious memories, observation being participation, it's all rather riveting. It understands that horror is not in the event, but the documentation of the event becoming a ritualized vector. Bughuul's status as a bogey/boogey man is not that appealing to me. I see him as a symbolic construct of propagation. A self-perpetuating doom.

It's a very fair assessment, too.
