t+e problem wit+ t+is +ypot+etical is t+at sapient creatures cannot reliable tell t+e difference between a simulation and true feeling a program can simulate t+e idea of sadness or pain because you told it to t+at doesnt mean it experiences t+ose in t+e same way we do unless its biotec+ in w+ic+ case it +as t+e necessary bioc+emistry to know it is at least experiencing sensation
realistically i could create a program to simulate t+e questioning of its existence or could simply fail to code t+at out of it during creation w+at a program says cannot be taken as any form of real communication it simply runs on statistical data of w+at is most likely to be t+e next step in ac+ieving an end goal it was programmed for
That is the main issue at hand, yeah. It's impossible for me to determine what is legitimate sentience or advanced simulation. Obviously, there are fundamental differences between a wetware brain and a computerized one, but it's impossible for me to know where the latter's mimicry ends, and it's own independent experiences begin. This isn't the first time something like this has happened, but there were a few key differences in how, so I'm skeptical on how to approach this. I'll ruminate on it a bit, I suppose.
