Think of it like hiking. Sometimes you might come across a cliff face while walking. You can't walk through stone obviously. Could climb, but you could very well slip and die, or never get a foothold to begin with. Better to stop, assess your surroundings, and find another way that puts less unnecessary strain on yourself.
