Let's greet another beautiful morning with another round of #glitchposting! After the grassroots MahoyoSweep campaign led to the official English localization of Witch on the Holy Night gaining widespread attention and support, the two other core TYPE-MOON visual novels, Tsukihime and Fate/stay night, were also slated for international release. Fans prepared to post about the games nonstop, since by this point it had become extremely clear that Aniplex was not going to put any work into marketing on their end despite being the actual publisher :/ Fate/stay night ended up releasing with a comically game-breaking bug. The filenames for the game's sprites, backgrounds, and CGs are written in kanji. And instead of being encoded in UTF-8, they use Shift-JIS, which was commonplace in 2004 when the original game was written. The remaster's engine re-encodes UTF-8 into Shift-JIS to locate the assets... but instead of specifying Shift-JIS explicitly, it just uses the default codepage on the system locale. So for players with a Japanese locale, the game ran fine and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. On an English locale, however... https://i.ibb.co/TBG04fFg/c4232ecbc3582c0db2239e07ef4251d998c3062f.gif
