Arbitrary whims. That sort of thing. What cannot be denied, however, is a certain magnetism that books which are consigned to us have. A veritable cellmate locked beyond the boundaries of summary book reports and the occasional pop quiz acting as litmus test and warden overseer for those who were derelict in the daily required readings.
