It feels a bit shallow to immediately label something as “evil.” The lusii existed to teach the young of the planet how to survive in a predatory world. It wasn’t necessarily malice, but instinct and genetics guiding their young on how to navigate danger and ensure their survival. I also don’t think having another person as a guardian is automatically better for everyone. I’ve met plenty of humans who describe their childhoods as neglectful, but that alone doesn’t make their guardians inherently “evil.” There are countless circumstances that shape people and the way they raise others. Things like this are rarely as black and white as people make them out to be.
