In theory, though I have never managed to do it myself, but a friend of mine once told me that whenever there were too many choices, she would simply turn off her thoughts entirely and let her raw instincts do the talking. This didn't serve her well in mundane situations, since her instincts were generally fight or flight, but... She managed to break out of mind control this way! Incredibly impressive. Terrifying.
