#X - I want to say this one myself, and I don't think I care if anyone hears it. I went back to the masquerade without a mask to see if I would be noticed. Everyone conceals the things that make them traditionally stand out, instead dressing well and masking their visages to stand out in a different way. Had I put a mask over my own face, I'd have been on equal footing to everyone else. Maybe I would've even been recognised from the first day. I opted to break the only rule. To go without one. I returned dressed as I normally would be, including the glasses. And just as I thought, I was still completely invisible. Maybe every eye and brain there had been trained to look for masks and such. Maybe not having horns meant I was more concealed in a crowd. Maybe, at a glance, my distinctly not-grey flesh looks as if it *is* my mask. Maybe it is. But that confirmed exactly what I suspected. That everyone looks right through me.
