i have been thinking lately about how difficult it was to adjust to existence after sgrub which is a little funny because you would imagine surviving the destruction of your universe and participating in the creation of another would leave you with more pressing psychological concerns but really one of the stranger parts was simply having nothing to do for such a long time everything had an objective attached to it there were gates to climb lands to explore frogs to breed enemies to fight deadlines to meet timelines to maintain mistakes to make and then occasionally make again in a slightly more productive order even dying did not really get you out of it and then eventually it was over there was no next gate no countdown no quest marker no looming apocalypse requiring our immediate attention you could wake up and spend an entire day doing absolutely nothing and reality would continue existing without your supervision i think it took me quite a while to stop looking for the rules that might be the strangest thing about spending so much of your life inside a game eventually you stop thinking about the game at all anyway you just thought about the game you lost
