flying upright is like. fine i guess? but doing it at speed instead of laying out just makes more drag and totally does look ominous. something about it scans like nothing is your concern, ya know?
unless you cross your arms. but ive only seen like one character pull off the crossed arm flying look and i dont think anyone is as cool as piccolo.

Something like it's uncanny. Usually the mind sees something flying and it's either gotta work to keep in the air or glide respecting gravity. Even my "flying" is launching myself and doing some advanced falling in any direction but down
Which. Apparently it's scary for different reason but more in the oh god that woman is going to splat on the ground and not for ominous reasons. I haven't hit the ground too hard yet.
As long as you're good at landing, I guess it's all good. There IS a good intimidation factor to being leaped at.
