humans share characteristics with other mammals because we were evolved from a common ancestor over a vast period of time. so because we and many other mammals give live birth a lot of our appendages are softer and more pliable when we are young. our hair is keratin and probably similar to the makeup of your horns. it just makes little sense for us to have them for a vast variety of reasons!
