[BROADCAST ENTRY] [ON AIR] Good morning, folks. /Seventh Echo/, tuning in. I've received a surprisingly large number of questions about the little phrase we use around here. "Tune In. Tune Out. Tune Out Further." I suppose it's about time I /explained it/. The first part is simple. /Tune In/ means pay attention. Find the frequency, settle in, listen to what's actually being said. Don't just wait for noise to fill the room. There is usually something worth hearing if you bother to look for it. Then comes /Tune Out/. That doesn't mean stop listening. Quite the opposite. Sometimes you have to ignore the obvious signal to find the interesting one underneath it. Every station has something competing with it. Every broadcast has interference. You have to learn what isn't worth your attention. And then there's /Tune Out Further/. That's the important one. Because once you've filtered out the obvious noise, you can start filtering out the noise you didn't even realize was there. Or maybe you find something else entirely.
