Nestled into the middle of the continent, positioned in a valley and surrounded by a wall, is the rough-and-tumble town of Misery. This town, small though it may be, is not an unknown. Rather, it has quite the reputation as a place of violence even eclipsing the Alternian Wilds. Misery is a place where little survives, and even fewer thrive. A place detached from the typical workings of the Alternian Blood Castes, there is but one rule in Misery. The Strong Rule. The Weak Die. Your name is Karita Evriox, and you are seething with rage as you stare down at the corpse of the indigo you just fought. He had gone down easily, a single well-placed punch to the scent sponge shattering bone that pierced his thinkpan. It shouldn't matter that your knuckles are stained blue from the blood he shed as you beat him to a pulp afterwards. You are a fighter, and you can often be found in The Bloody Knuckle, the only bar in town, which is a front for a super illegal fight club, which, somehow, you occupy the top spot of the leaderboard at. This may be because your opponents never exit the ring. When not at The Bloody Knuckle, you like to doze on rooftops. Hives do not last in Misery. Between the deaths, and the rampant explosions that litter the streets, leaving only The Bloody Knuckle untouched, they are often vacated or destroyed. In fact, many of the functional buildings in Misery have pieces missing, walls cracked or crumbling, or holes in the roofs. You have learned to survive without a hive. Misery is your home, and though it can be a nightmare for most to simply walk down the street, trolls tend to leave you alone outside of the ring. In all, you've made a pretty good life for yourself here in Misery.
