if it helps, in my experience a good way to clean up is by making a bunch of sub folders in your downloads folder, each labeled for a specific type of download. one folder might be video game stuff, one might be music, one might be meme pictures and so forth. put stuff in your downloads folder in their respective folders within your downloads folder, and then you can more easily distribute things where they should actually go on your computer.
