like idk man i say all this as a human being who has a moirail who is a troll the relationship serves a far different purpose for me than it does him and like i can do my best to meet his needs but that doesnt mean that shit comes easily or naturally i love him just as surely as he does me but i gotta work hard to make sure im not dropping the ball because i didnt grow up with the same cultural experiences and expectations he did humans are built for social connections but were not socially equipped for quadrant romance and it feels weird and appropriative to apply those terms to our relationships just because we dont like the labels we already have worse still it feels actively gross to apply those labels to a relationship just because its toxic and antagonistic or possibly even abusive

especially because we already have a term for committed relationships that arent romantic lol we dont have a term for caliginous relationships because for us relationships that have that level of antagonism are actively bad for our health? and those that arent are simply called rivalries you can have an erotic/homoerotic rivalry all you want and that still doesnt make it a pitch relationship because it lacks the nuance and cultural context required
