i figured i should make a fairly substantial psa about this hey stick to your own timeline let trolls solve their own problems i mean this quite seriously every time something unpleasant happens to somebody you do not need to materialize in their replies going "heh i can fix that for you" and start clawing at causality until you find a version of events you personally find more agreeable you are not helping nearly as much as you think you are infesting somebody elses timeline with unnecessary corrections creates damage that accumulates remarkably quickly and yes given enough interference you can absolutely get them killed sometimes in very stupid ways beyond that the things we encounter are not mistakes simply because they hurt failure is important grief is important bad decisions are important consequences are extremely important these things constitute a fairly significant portion of what you might call narrative growth if your first instinct upon witnessing somebody experience difficulty is to erase it because you cannot tolerate seeing them uncomfortable then perhaps you should spend a little more time examining why their timeline needs to accommodate your feelings it is quite literally my job to clean up temporal messes please stop making that job harder by grabbing the figurative and occasionally literal torch from somebody who knows what they are doing and handing it to some loser who figured out how to turn on a transponder five minutes ago some things are supposed to happen leave them alone
