It seems that he's somewhere in the vast Alternian desert. There's a gargantuan skeleton of some sort of quadruped, at least the size of an average apartment building. Not only is the skeleton completely gone, but the crater that the blast left easily dwarfed it. It's easily the size of a city block, and is deep enough that it exposed the bedrock of the desert.
