It's not necessarily that she -hates- being pampered and preened, since as much as she'll complain affection and attention DO make her melt, it's just that she wants to assert that she's capable of independence and autonomy and is deserving of respect. All too frequently she has those things taken from her, in no small part due to frequent lashing out, destroying property, sneaking out, and just generally refusing to be placid and docile. Decisions made for her, natural weapons dulled or made safe, her status as a 'mutant' used to reaffirm that she's incapable of thinking for herself. As far as interacting with her goes? Go wild.
