Just got out of the theaters for a special screening of "Wherein a young man turns to the adult film industry to find acceptance and a surrogate family structure; He becomes incredibly successful at the endevour; At the turn of the decade the technological and cultural shifts as well as cocaine use and financial pressure destabilize interpersonal relationships; One character tries multiple times to open a hi-fi stereo company; After attempting to rob another man and in an high octane and high stress scenario the main characters all reconcile ." A fantastic film and a classic for a reason- this film it one of Troll Paul Thomas Anderson's greatest achievements on the silver screen. The themes of legacy, fame, ego, the rise-and-fall cycle, the dark side of the American dream. It's a movie not just about adult entertainment- but about Hollywood itself. About how celebrity could break or transform you. Not to mention it's ensemble cast of characters, including the greatest actor of this or any generation; Troll Phillip Seymour Hoffman. A fantastic film, and I encourage you to go out of your way to watch it.
