Giveing a very basic summary, gaslighting is the act of slowly manipulting someone into believing everything you say, making them believe they're crazy or wrong go believe anything aside from your claims. The term origiates from an old 1944 movie called Gaslight in which a husband makes his wife think she's crazy by messing with a gas lamp for a prolonged period of time. A good example of gaslighting would be Tangled with Mother Gothel who gaslights Rapunzel into believing various lies about people. It's a form of psychological manipulation and emotional abuse that's unfortunately widely misunderstood, which is terrible as real gaslighting is very dangerous.
