Living with trauma sucks in all the obvious ways but it also sucks in a bunch of subtler ways that people don't talk about as much. Almost autopiloting into yeeting a sword through my wall because I thought I heard a suspicious noise even though my abusive mom died seven years ago is one thing, but then there's ALSO the fact that because my brain is trying to hype me up to survive an enemy that literally doesn't exist, I'm just passively stuck in that agitated state for the next half hour. It's like someone hooked my emotions up to an ASDR and fucked up the settings as a joke.
