Chat since I'm relatively anonymous here. Am I the asshole for not being able to keep my promise of keeping safe for my former friends. A lot of them have cut ties with me for "treating myself like a sacrificial goat" or something along them lines. I'm just saying like. If I have to take the fall to protect others is it really that bad?
Nah I do it all the time. Even if it pisses people off all the time too and has made it difficult to form meaningful relationships with people. But other than that it's fine.
You're an asshole. Don't mean you're wrong though. I mean if you can be the sacrificial goat it's a good thing. Better not to be friends with them if that's your role though. Makes it hard on them for no reason. Just be an asshole from the start.
Some people don't want others to put themselves in harm way to protect them. You needed to trust your former friends to handle themselves. i wouldn't say you're an asshole for it, though. Just... reckless.

I guess it was less not trusting them and feeling like they didn't deserve the hardships while I did. I still find myself doing it even nowadays.
