Personally, hear me out, that putting yourself to any degree of physical harm should be disclosed to your partner beforehand. Your partner isn't asking this because he hates you, but because he's concerned and worried about your safety. Your partner also has a military background and has lost people due to their being reckless and dying doing so. It would ease your partner's concerns if he knew beforehand. A lot ot ask for apparently! Ha, silly guy! He's not seething with irritation or anger at all.
