it's like watching a train wreck. or, rather, a recording of a train wreck. a wreck of which i've only ever seen the aftermath. in a sense, yoU coUld argUe my brother, too, was a victim of lord english. denied the choice to do anything with his life bUt become him. caUght in the whirlpool of entropy, a single path which can have no other oUtcome bUt the conditions which birthed it. i doUbt he woUld have chosen to be a "good person," withoUt the lord's inflUence. bUt perhaps he coUld have *been* a person.
It's sickening. Impossibly delicate, impossible to deter or derail. And yet.
you know, you're probably not wrong about the victim thing, people who do bad things probably have been victims of systems they have no control over. but choice matters too. i feel like you can only go so far with forgiveness if the person doesn't intend to make up for their deeds. it is definitely a shame that it sounds like your brother never got the chance to choose, though.
