Hey so I have a question about your like, story if you don't mind. Keep hearing terms like "rustblood" and "jadeblood" and was wondering what those were about! Always looking to learn more! -Gary

Good question. Your species is monohemotyped, by which I mean your blood comes only in one shade. To my understanding, there are different proteins that bond oxygen to the carrier cells of blood, which results in a different color when oxygenated. For your species, it would be hemoglobin, which creates red. Alternian (troll) society is structured around these blood differences, and what caste you are hatched in to determines your responsibilities in your life. Your bright red blood is actually a marker of mutation among our society, and would likely have had you separated from other grubs and dealt with the prevent the hatching of further hemo-abberations. Fortunately you do not need to concern yourself with that, as you were not hatched, but born. How lucky it is to be a mammal. The spectrum is as follows: Rust Bronze Gold Lime (now extinct) Olive Jade (I am one of these) Teal Cobalt/Cerulean Blue/Indigo Purple Violet Fuchsia As you climb the spectrum towards the royal hues, the troll's expected lifespan climbs, and so does their assumed responsibility over troll society. This is not to say that those lower on the spectrum do not have responsibilities, it is just that their lot in life is often more grimy and less glamorous. As a Jade, my purpose was to tend to the Mothergrub, a creature with which trolls enjoy a symbiotic relationship. It is, in all likelihood, an ancient symbiotic partnership of our species, as she lays the eggs that hatch trolls, and only upon her death can the egg that produces her own heiress be retrieved. Our genetic slurry is given to the mothergrub to process into eggs. Other castes have other generalized purposes, like teals, which are encouraged to enter the ranks of legislaceration, or goldbloods, who are often made helmsmen and power sources for Alternian spacecraft due to their psionic powers. I hope that this basic explanation was a worthwhile read. It's incredibly simplistic, but it may help you understand a few of the more alien concepts you see here.
Wow that's really in depth! Thank you! You all have really built out the lore for this haven't you? Interesting stuff for sure! -Gary
