been thinking again. what is even is a "smell"? like. if i put some cheese on the counter and walk away from it i can smell the cheese from a good distance away. how? yes okay i get it. the "scent" is hitting my sniff nub and my pan is interpreting it to tell me what that smell is. ok. what the fuck is a scent? are there smell particulates in the air? why are some things smellier than others? is there a word for an object'S smell aura? for what reason does cheese smell stronger than, like, drywall? does it emit more smell particulates per minute? excited and eager to hear your response. yours truly, phuntr guynax esq.

okay but my follow-up question would be, like. why? why do these things have smell-chemicals in them? how do they manage to get so far away from their original object - carried by the air? is there a way to gauge the potential smelliness of something? some sort of unit of smell? and also when you like. smoke a cigarette or #substance type things, that smell can stick to you or a place for a while. i understand that that'S the smoke sticking to stuff, but how are the "smell chemicals" still there, surely they'D evaporate after a few hours. are they infinite??? much to think about.
