Redline has what I can only describe as a biological transmission, shifting through internal gears that must be reached sequentially: First Gear favors torque, Second speed, Third endurance, Fourth violent acceleration, and Overdrive extremely inadvisable. She joins the Uncurated because she wants to know what happens if she exceeds the maximum statistic I gave her. This is a compelling philosophical question. Less compelling while she is chasing me at highway speed. Vrrrrrr. SILVER NEGATIVE A quiet psionic scout whose apparent measurements change under observation because her psychic presence negotiates how much of herself people believe they are seeing. Silver Negative can compress, extend, distort distance, become difficult to photograph, and occasionally appear more clearly in reflections than direct sight. Silver nitrate. Wet photography. Rain on coins. She immediately develops a rivalry with Mirage Ledger because apparently there are ethical schools of lying with psionics now. STRIATRIX Built like a weapon disguised as sculpture. Striatrix has deep symmetrical ridges that function like rails for movement, channeling force along precise paths and making her extremely difficult to push sideways, dislodge, or grapple. She excels at charging, bracing, carrying, and breaking formations without needing elaborate conditions. The name was my suggestion. She liked it. Hhhh. Iamproudofthat. SMOKEHELIX Long, flexible, narrowing toward the end, with a spiral path of sensory divots that heat sequentially into a visible corkscrew of ember-like light. Smokehelix can rotate at extreme speed and essentially become a living drill, accompanied by extinguished smoke, ash, heat, and faint bitter sweetness. Everyone calls her Cigarette. She hates this. I told them to stop, which caused more people to do it. SLIPSTREAM [VILLAIN] Smooth, slick, controlled, and capable of reducing surface friction almost to zero. Slipstream passes through grapples, narrow openings, restraints, and crowded formations by becoming functionally impossible to hold. He becomes the Uncurated's infiltration specialist because no archive, vent, or containment cell seems designed to stop a person whose entire power is "you cannot keep hold of me." Unlike Wayward, he is doing this on purpose. Important distinction. HARPOON Long. Heavy. Violet. Retractable barbs. Harpoon can deploy backward-facing spines and anchor to structures, enemies, vehicles, ocean floors, or anything substantial enough to survive it, becoming extraordinarily difficult to dislodge once set. Excellent underwater. Excellent rescue utility. Horrifying at close range. Do not make the joke. Everyone makes the joke. GRAPESHOT [VILLAIN] Compact artillery capable of firing high-pressure fluid projectiles in what is formally called the Squirt Defense. I did not name this. Grapeshot provides ranged bombardment with lemon-mint scent, artificial grape ammunition, and the insistence upon screaming GRAPESHOT every time she fires. She discovers this is bad for ambushes and continues anyway. Apparently accuracy is more important than secrecy. CURLBACK [VILLAIN] A large purple striker with a heavy base, lighter agile tip, and microscopic scales that slide smoothly in one direction while catching in the other. Curlback strikes, wraps, then changes the scale angle so withdrawal becomes harder, with the lighter end curling independently to tighten the restraint. Communion can amplify the faint chucklevoodoo muttering around him across their entire faction. Idonotwanttoaskwhatheissaying. KRAKEN MAXIMUM Okayokay. Strength 8, Pliability 3, Length 10, Girth 10, X-Factor 0 unless you count the MASSIVE SIZE. Kraken Maximum is gigantic, four pounds of inflated kraken-tentacle geometry with so much structural musculature that elegant movement is barely possible. I did not do that intentionally. THE ANCHOR [VILLAIN] Hff. Respectfully. The Anchor is enormously strong, heavy, violet, poorly pliable, and possessed of the worst possible X-Factor: reputation. Public perception has anatomy. Fear increases durability, admiration increases presence, rumors increase scale, and repeated stories begin granting enough capability to make themselves plausible. DRAGONHOOK A muscular teal combatant built around a powerful curve and prehensile hooked end, fighting through caught momentum rather than direct impact. Dragonhook wraps weapons, limbs, cables, railings, and structures, then swings, redirects, pulls, launches, or uses herself as a living grappling line. Her silhouette resembles a draconic tail enough that she considers this proof of something. It proves nothing about dragons. She says I lack vision. AUXILATRIX TECHNICALLY. Auxilatrix is the sole Nook-Sona because not every anatomy involved in my research contains the receptors necessary for normal Bulge manifestation. She is plush, defensive, extremely durable, internally elastic, and capable of forming protected pocket-spaces around injured teammates while an active life-creating internal system supplies the X-Factor. So. Healer. This is biologically consistent and I will not be expanding upon it. hfff. MIRAGE LEDGER A modest physical fighter surrounded by an enormous psionic lie. Mirage Ledger generates gold-lit translucent phantom structures that distort depth, distance, occupancy, and attack direction while the actual body hides inside fraudulent anatomy paperwork. They wave. They point. They make gestures I refuse to archive. Projection 10. Grip simulated. Perception-warping little fraud. Very pretty. Very annoying. UR CHAGRIN Uhm. No. The normal format is insufficient. UR Chagrin functions according to visual-novel rules, with abilities locked behind dialogue conditions and route flags. He becomes the Uncurated's organizer because everyone near him keeps finding his plans distressingly reasonable. This is not mind control. This is somehow worse for my argument. NIGHTLIGHT Massive, bumpy, bright, and covered in bioluminescent nodes that function as both illumination and sensory organs. Nightlight can dim herself for deep-water movement, flare bright enough to blind nearby opponents, detect movement in total darkness, and navigate narrow aquatic environments despite considerable volume. Hhheheh. She becomes the team's deep-sea specialist and literal nightlight. She dislikes the nickname.
