I may not be the jade you pinged, but I have some input on this. Grubs have individual scents, of course, but a fresh clutch has a sort of scent like... slightly fermented soy sauce, based on what goregle tells me humans call it. Some trolls find it fine, others are revolted by it. I'm not sure what human standards would consider that smell. It's sort of a mix of sweet and umami.
