A room is a volume of space enclosed by a set of boundaries, and a door is simply a means of negotiating those boundaries. The difficulty arises from your rather provincial assumption that the volume in question must exist on the same side of the door as the building containing it. As for size, I possess a modest selection of rooms ranging from approximately twelve square metres to several astronomical units in diameter. I once maintained an entire planetary system in a linen cupboard, only ceasing as such when the fair maiden asked for additional space for her exploits. And yes, there is such a thing as a room too small. I generally find that one which cannot accommodate its occupant is rather poorly designed. A room too large, on the other hand, is simply a matter of furnishing. Ah, windows! An architectural feature whose entire purpose is to permit observation without requiring participation. Rather like certain members of the Buddyaucracy, now that I think about it. You see, a door establishes a relationship between two spaces. A window establishes a relationship between two perspectives. A conventional window allows you to observe the exterior of a building. Mine are under no such obligation. One in my study presently overlooks a pleasant seaside promenade approximately six hundred sweeps from now. Another offers an unobstructed view of yesterday afternoon. A third looks directly into the study itself, though from an angle which, strictly speaking, doesn't exist. However, just because you can look through a window, does not mean you should. Consider looking through to the future to a reality in which you have already observed yourself through that same window. This creates certain narrative complications, you see.
